Thank you very much indeed for your comments. It is so easy to send a negative remark in times of difficulty but it is wonderful for the doctors and the team to receive positive feedback. Well done Dr Ola!

It is normally possible to book the same day appointment by telephoning the surgery persistently just after 8am.

We are trying our best to be able to see every patient that requests an appointment on the day of requesting. We offer on-line booking in the surgery. Next time you are passing please come in and register.

My designated doctor is most helpful and spends as much time with patients as is needed rather than giving them the designated time slot. This at times results in having to wait passed designated appointment times which, speaking for myself, I have no problem with as I would rather wait and know I can have the doctor's full attention for however long it takes. On the negative side, the time taken to answer the phone is unacceptable - sometime it takes 2 - 3 minutes for a call to be answered and then the caller is very often left holding on for anything up to 15 minutes (speaking from personal experience) which is totally unacceptable - the call could well be for an emergency. Another negative is the practice operates a system whereby patients can come and queue before 8 am when the door opens to get an appointment for that morning. Unfortunately the queue is often 20-30 patients with no shelter in bad weather. Why not open the doors at 7.30 and have a ticket system whereby the patients can then book in for an appointment when the receptionist arrives at 8 am. This system is supposed to be available between 8-9 but because slots are limited they are very often filled by 8.05 - again, speaking from personal experience when arriving at 8.08 to be told all slots for all doctors had been taken. Why state that patients can see a doctor if they come to book an appointment between 8-9?! And yet more negativity. It is virtually impossible (unless it is an emergency when the patient has to ring precisely at 2 pm) to get an appointment for the same day unless have queued earlier in the morning - normally it is 3, even 4, weeks in advance. Again, not acceptable. Too many patients and not enough doctors at the practice.

Thank you for your feedback. We do not advocate anyone stands outside the surgery from 7:30 in the morning. Please review our on-line booking programme which is currently being rolled out in the surgery. Today we have fifteen appointments that were not used. It does depend on the demand for the day and if you have specified a particular clinician. We are working hard with the Patient Participation Group to look at the telephone system, the appointment system and education evenings for patients with chronic disease evenings. Watch out for the Patient Group Newsletter for any changes to the practice. Thank you again.

Convenient location, helpful staff, ample waiting area; not spotless but reasonably clean. Online appointment and prescription facility recently started (ask receptionist). Unfortunately not open on weekends, so need to plan visits around working schedule. Walk-ins in the morning and appointments in the afternoon is a very good approach for those days when there is a need to see the doctor, especially since the centre is closed on weekends.

Dr Ola is fantastic. The let down at the surgery is the booking system. Ridiculous you have to phone at 8am on the morning of illness and it is hit and miss if you get through or not. Gone are the days of phoning in the morning of illness and seen the same day - apart from if you are a child. As said Dr Ola is approachable, efficient and a great doctor. I can't speak highly enough of him, unfortunately the appt system is the let down.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to hear the "on the day" booking isn't working for you. You are still welcome to book in the afternoon or use our on-line facility if you do not wish to use the telephone. We like to treat every patient as an equal regardless of age. Please discuss your appointment difficulty with your GP on your next visit or speak with a member of our Patient Participation Group. We are currently working with the team to continue to improve services at the surgery. Thank you for your kind words about Dr Ola, very much appreciated.
